How to Use This Checklist

The first column number the birds.

(E) is short for Endemic and is used for a species found in no other country in the world but Indonesia; there are 406 of those.

Threat is short for Threatened Status and follows the conventional categories as described in details on page 43. There are 317 threatened, near-threated or data deficient bird species in Indonesia.

CR = Critically endangered

VU = Vulnerable

DD = Data Deficient

N/A = Taxonomy not recognized by BirdLife International

EN = Endangered

NT = Near-threatened

The next seven columns indicate in which subregion the species has been recorded.

Sum = Sumatra

J/B = Java and/or Bali

Sul = Sulawesi

P = Papua

K = Kalimantan

NT = Nusa Tenggara

M = Maluku
