Description

Body shape like a chicken with a long neck and tail, has a crest with a bluish green color. Males: very long tail, shiny fur with spots shaped like a typical eye. Female: The color is a bit dull and the tail is not long.

Green Peacocks can usually be found in open forests near the savanna.

Population threats​

Poaching and forest habitat destruction.

Population number​

Due to the large amount of forest habitat lost and continued illegal fishing, as well as the areas where this bird is found to be highly dispersed, the green peacock is evaluated as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. This species is listed in CITES Appendix II.
