Description

Lonchura punctulata is a small bird measuring about 11 cm. Adult birds are brown on the neck and upper flanks of their bodies, with faint light streaks of light and white feathers. Reddish brown throat. The underside is white, with brown scale-like painting on the chest and sides. Lower belly to white rump. Young bird with dark yellow to slightly dirty brown breast and belly, without scales. Dark brown iris; the distinctive beak of the finch is bluish gray; grayish black feet.
