Batrachostomus javensis

Description

This species measures about 22 cm. The top is a mix of brown, gray, buff and white, speckled with black. There is a white stripe above the eyes and half a white collar. The underparts are brown with buffs, and white spots. The sides and belly are generally paler, with some brown margins. The difference is that the female bird is slightly yellowish brown and lighter than the male, and the young bird is similar to the adult bird but is paler and duller. The beak is brown, the irises are yellow and the legs are brown.
