Cacomantis merulinus

Description

Cacomantis merulinus is gray in color on the head, neck and upper chest. The back is brownish red and the stomach is orange yellow. The underside of the tail is white at the ends of the feathers blackish. Young birds are brownish in color with black stripes on the upper sides of the body, and whitish with smoother black stripes.

Cacomantis merulinus likes open forests, secondary forests, forest edges, moor and residential environments in rural areas. Sometimes it is also found in urban areas and parks. In Java and Bali it is found up to an altitude of 1000 masl.
