Description

Cisticola exilis is small, the upper side of the body is brownish with stripes or black streaks, the underside of the body is dark yellow. The crown of the male that is not breeding and the female bird has a lot of black stripes. Dark brown tail with dark yellow tip. Iris brown, black beak on top and pink below, light brown feet.

Cisticola exilis inhabit grasslands, reeds and rice fields. In Java and Bali, this bird is common up to an altitude of 1,500 m above sea level. In Papua, it inhabits the lowlands and valleys of the Central Mountains to an altitude of 1,400 m above sea level.
