Description

Pelargopsis capensis is a large bird, gray / brown on the head, crown and back of the neck, feathers on the top of the wings and ridge are blue, and the chest is orange. This species is also easily recognized by its very large, red beak and red legs.

Country : India, Southeast Asia: Philippines, Indonesia (Kalimantan, Sumatra, Java and Nusa Tenggara Barat. Occasionally encountered along the Java coastline and in large rivers in the lowlands. Now rare in East Java and no recent records from Bali where previously reported

This species lives in pairs but when hunting is always alone, it is very territorial. It perches quietly while looking for food, and is often inconspicuous despite its enormous size.
