Description

Elanus caeruleus has a body color of white, gray, and black. Black blotches on shoulders and characteristic long black primary fur. Adults have a crown on the back, protective wings and the base of the gray tail. The face, neck and lower body are white. The beak is black and the legs are yellow. Juvenile irises are yellow, when adults turn red.
