Moon Wrasse

Thalassoma lunare

TP: Blue to blue-green with blue head. IP: predominantly greenish.

Size : 27 cm

Habitat : Lagoons and outreefs, 1-20 m. Alone or in groups. Very quick swimmers, always in rapid movement. Not shy, sometimes curious. Male is territorial and lives with a harem of females. Feeds on invertebrate bottom-dwellers, especially crustaceans, also small fish.

Distribution : Red Sea, Arabian Gulf and South Africa to S Japan and Line Islands and New Zealand.
