Lagoon Triggerfish

Rhinecanthus aculeatus

Yellow horizontal stripe from the snout to the cheek. Two pairs of white to bluish diagonal stripes at the lower body rear. An orange-brown diagonal stripe on the back.

Size : 25 cm

Habitat : Inhabits lagoons and shallow reef roofs, 0.3-5 m. Above sand, rubble and stony coral. Territorial, alone or in pairs. Apart from numerous invertebrates, it also feeds on small fish and algae.

Distribution : East Africa to SW Japan, Micronesia, Hawaii and French Polynesia.
