Warty Anglerfish

Antennarius maculatus

Skin with numerous warts and knot-like protrusions. Dark, very irregular blotches. Fishing rod somewhat longer than second ray. Especially wide colour variability.

Juvenile, typically white with conspicuous orange-red markings. In some speciments, the body is covered with numerous, closely-spaced warts.

Size :  8-11 cm

Habitat : In protected reefs, 1-15 m. On diverse grounds, observed relatively frequently. On crushed coral rock, corals and sand, also likes to be near sponges.

Distribution : East Africa (possibly also Red Sea) to Mauritius, to SW Japan, the Mariana Islands, Solomons and GBR.
