Lygosoma bowringii

Description

Lygosoma bowringii has a small, slender and elongated body. The head is triangular in shape with a pointed but blunt snout. The scales are soft. The limbs are short, the tail is thick cylindrical and tapers towards the tip. The color of the back is light brown with black lines along its body. The side and lower body parts are separated white, yellow and pink, covered with black patches, the neck is whitish. The color of the tail is brown with pink or orange sides in adults, and bright red in juveniles.

Lygosoma bowringii can be found in monsoon forests and other various habitats such as agricultural areas, garden and places with an altitude of 1500 m above sea level. In Bali it is known to be on agricultural land near sea level.

Country : Lygosoma bowringii is widely distributed in various regions in Asia, such as the Andaman Island of India, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines (Sulu Island), Hong Kong, South China, Malaysia (Tioman Island, Johor), Singapore, and Indonesia (Kalimantan, Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, Bali). This species is also found in Cook Island in Australia
