Bluespotted Fantail Ray

Taeniura lymma

Olive-green with large, luminous blue spots.

Size : body plate 90 cm

Habitat : On sand and rubble surfaces of coral reefs, 2-30 m. Like to rest under overhangs or coral tables as well as in small caves. Active day and night. Only slightly timid. Feeds on molluscs, worms and shrimps. Often seeks cleaner stations.

Distribution : Red Sea, Oman, East Africa to the Philippines, Fiji and East Australia.
