Oxycheilinus bimaculatus

The caudal fin has and unusual angular form.

Size : 25 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and outreefs, 2-110 m. Usually in areas with rubble, sand, seagrass and isolated stony corals with algae growth. Males are territorial, live with hharem females, defending their spawning territory against other males.

Distribution : Gulf of Aden and South Africa to S Japan, Hawaii, Micronesia and French Polynesia.
