Queen Coris

Coris formosa

Male (TP) with cross bands. Female (IP) with black spots, caudal fin is red in front, semi-transparent in the rear area.

Size : 60 cm

Habitat : In coral-rich, usually exposed reefs, 3-30 m. Alone, above mixed zones with sand, coral and rubble. Feeds on hard-shelled invertebrates.

Distribution : Southern Red Sea, East Africa, the Mascarenes, Seychelles, Chagos Islands, the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
