Ornate Leopard Wrasse

Macropharyngodon ornatus

IP: head orange to reddish with short, green, black-edged stripes. Body dark with blueish-green spots. TP: very similar, but head greenish, the stripes and body dots blueish.
Juveniles head with white basic colouration and net-like orange stripes. Black body with rows or large white patches.

Size : 12 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and protected outreefs, 3-30 m. Swims alone or in small groups, usually above mixed zones of coral, sand and rubble.

Distribution : Sri Lanka, Andaman Sea to SW Japan, Samoa and GBR.
