Pteragogus cryptus

Approximately oval eyespot on the gill lid, white stripe behind the eye.

Size : 9.5 cm

Habitat : Inhabits lagoons and shallow, protected fringe reefs, 1-20 m. Alone or in pairs, lives hidden and therefore frequently overlooked. Rest usually in the cover of coral branches, soft coral, seagrass or algae.

Distribution : Red Sea, East Africa and Oman to the Philippines, New Caledonia and Samoa.
