Black spot behind the pectoral fins.

Size : 38 cm

Habitat : In bays, lagoons and along protected outreefs, 1-70 m. Swims along the reef in large dense schools and thereby filters plankton from the water with wide-open mouth. Can be attracted to light at night.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to SW Japan, GBR and Samoa.
