Sickle tail, red teeth.
Juvenile specimen, about 8 cm long.
Size : 40 cm
Habitat : Prefers current-rich outer reef slopes and reef terraces, 3-55 m. Frequently forms large, sometimes colossal schools and catches zooplankton in open water, often high above the reef. In case of imminent danger, it flees to the reef and hides in small crevices, from where the caudal fin often slightly protrudes.
Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to S Japan, Micronesia and French Polynesia.
