Sufflamen bursa

Two characteristic brown or yellow, slightly curved stripes (“scythes”) behind the eye.

Size : 24 cm

Habitat : Inhabits outreefs, 3-90 m. Prefers steep reef slopes beneath the surf regions, in coral-rich areas as well as in mixed zones of coral, sand and rubble ground. Can change colour very rapidly, expecially also the “scythe” stripes. Feeds on various invertebrate bottom-dwellers.

Distribution : East Africa to S Japan, Hawaii, Micronesia and French Polynesia.
