Clown Triggerfish

Balistoides conspicillum

White spotted pattern. Juveniles with a yellow dorsal region.

Size : 50 cm

Habitat : In clear, coral-rich out-reefs, 3-75 m. Alone Uncommon. Often at steep reef slopes with terrace. Juveniles usually in caves or shelters beneath 15 m. Feed on sea urchins, crustaceans, mussels, snails and sea squirts.

Distribution : East Africa to S Japan, Micronesia, Line Islands and Samoa.
