Acanthurus mata

Yellow upper lip, yellow eye mask, very fine horizontal stripes.

Size : 50 cm

Habitat : In lagoons, bays and outreefs, also in turbid water, 3 to more than 30 m. Often also swims in schools in front of reef slopes and catches zooplankton high above the seabed. Can rapidly change colour, especially at cleaner stations.

Distribution : Southern Red Sea to South Africa, SW Japan, Marshall Islands and French Polynesia.
