Indian Sailfin Tang

Zebrasoma desjardinii

Caudal fin with pale blue spots.
A dark variant often occurs in the same area next to the light variant. The blue dots on the caudal fin are also present on very dark fish, however from some distance cannot be so clearly recognised.

Size : 40 cm

Habitat : Inhabits deep lagoons and semi-protected outreefs with moderate to rich coral growth, 1-30 m. Usually in pairs or small groups, juveniles live alone and usually in the protection of branch coral.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to Andaman Sea, Cocos Keeling and NW Sumatra.
