Indian Gold-ring Bristletooth

Ctenochaetus truncatus

Yellow eye-ring, light to dark brown with numerous small, light dots.
The juveniles are lemon yellow. The specimen shown is about 6 cm long.

Size : 18 cm

Habitat : Interior and outreefs, 1-20 m. Grazes on algae growth on hard ground. Juveniles can have a solid yellow colouration.

Distribution : S Oman and East Africa from Kenya to Natal to the Andaman Sea, the Maldives, Chagos Islands, Cocos Keeling and Christmas Islands.
