Convict Surgeonfish

Acanthurus triostegus

Pale green with five to six black vertical stripes.

Size : 26 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and outer reefs, 2 to above coral reefs and rock substrates. Often moves in large shoals, sometimes with more than 1,000 fish, over reef and grazes on blanket-weed algae.

Distribution : East Africa to SW Japan, Micronesia, Hawaii, Panama and French Polynesia.
