Bignose Unicornfish

Naso vlamingii

Blue lips, blue horizontal band on the snout between the eyes.
Very rapid colour changes between very light and dark. Such colour chages take place for instance at cleaner stations and during the mating ritual.

Size : 55 cm

Habitat : Inhabits deep lagoons and outer reef slopes, 4-50 m. Usually swims in groups some metres above the reef. Feeds on large plankton.

Distribution : East Africa to SW Japan, Micronesia and French Polynesia.
