Violet Soldierfish

Myripristis violacea

Silvery with dark scale edges. Unpaired fin with red tips. Red stripes along the gill lid edge.

Size : 20 cm

Habitat : Inhabits coral-rich lagoons and outreefs, 3-25 m. Floats immobile like other soldierfish during the day in protected places and hunts at night.

Distribution : East Africa to SW Japan, Micronesia, Line Islands, New Caledonia and French Polynesia.
