Marbled Snake Eel

Callechelys marmorata

White to cream-coloured, speckled with numerous dark spots.

Size : 87 cm

Habitat : In sandy areas of clear outreefs, 3-25 m. Usually buried in san with only the conical pointed head looking out. Captures small fish and crustaceans.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa (to Mozambique) to Marshall Islands and French Polynesia.
