Spotted Sandperch

Parapercis hexophtalma

Both sexes with large black tail spot. Male (upper photo) with stripes, female (lower photo) with spots on the cheek.

Size : 28 cm

Habitat : Inhabits sand and rubble in lagoons and semi-protected outreefs, 2-25 m. Male is terrirorial, with a harem of 2-5 females. Feeds on bottom-dwelling invertebrates.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to SW Japan, GBR and Fiji.
