Parapercis cylindrica

Dark, vertical to slightly diagonal stripes below the eye. Lower side of body with broad, dark patches coursing vertically.

Size : 18 cm

Habitat : On sand, rubble and rock grounds of coral and rock grounds of coral and rock reefs, 1-20m.

Distribution : The Maldives, Gulf of Thailand to S Japan, Marshall Islands and SE Australia. Variant with a yellow tail: Bali and East Indonesia.
