Redspotted Sandperch

Parapercis schauinslandii

Side with double row of red patches. First dorsal fin with red-black marking. Very pale and vivid red colour variants.

Size : 18 cm

Habitat : On sand and rubble near the reef, 10-50 m. Often at outreefs, also where there’s a slight current. Often floats some distance above the seabed and feeds on plankton.

Distribution : East Africa to S Japan, Guam, Hawaii and French Polynesia.
