Arothron stellatus

Numerous closely-places black dots.

Size : 100 cm

Habitat : Deep lagoons and out-reefs, 2-55 m. Largest pufferfish. Often rest on sandy bottom. Often glides during the day in middle open water above the reef. Feeds on sea urchins, crustaceans, starfish, coral and fire corals.

Distribution : Red Sea, Arabian Gulf, East Africa to S Korea, Micronesia, French Polynesia and New Zealand.
