Bluespotted Puffer

Arothron caeruleopunctatus

Small, closely-placed blue patches; forms broken rings around the eyes.

Size : 80 cm

Habitat : Inhabits lagoons, canals and outreefs, 2-45 m. Rather rare. Leisurely swimming loner. Usually hovers close to the seabed or pauses below overhangs.

Distribution : Reunion and the Maldives to SW Japan, Marshall Islands and New Caledonia.
