Diodon hystrix

Body and fin with numerous small black spots. Long, mobile barbs.

Size : 80 cm

Habitat : In coral and rock reefs, lagoons and outreefs, 2-50 m. During the day, usually rest below overhangs or in caves, less often suspended near the reef in open upper water. Goes predominantly at nigh in search of food, feeds on hermit crabs, sea urchins, crabs and shelled snails.

Distribution : Circumtropical.
