Longspined Porcupinefish

Diodon holocanthus

Cream-coloured to light grey with isolated large dark patches. Juveniles also have numerous small black spots (not on fins), the number decreases with age.

Size : 29 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and outreefs, frequently above open sand or rocky areas, 1-100 m. Juveniles pelagic up to a size of 7-9 cm.

Distribution : Circumglobal in tropical and warm-temperate seas.
