Broad-banded Pipefish

Dunckerocampus boylei

Banding alternately red to reddish-brown and cream-colored stripes. Caudal fin red with white border. Very similar to D. Dactyliphorus, but lacks the white spot in the centre of the tail.

Size : 16 cm

Habitat : Usually on outreefs, 15 to more than 35 m. Typically in crevices, caves and below overhangs. Alone or in pairs.

Distribution : Red Sea, East Africa, Mauritius to Bali.
