Banded Pipefish

Dunckerocampus dactyliophorus

Banding of alternate red to reddish-brown and cream-colored stripes. Caudal fin red with white border and a white spot in the centre.

Size : 18 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and out reefs, 3 to more than 30 m. Usually floats in crevices, caves and below overhang. Often in pairs or in groups.

Distribution : East Indonesia to SW Japan and French Polynesia.
