Terminal-Phase: Abrupt transition from dark to light green just in front of the tail base.
Initial-Phase: With dark diamond-shaped markings, often merging to a horizontal stripe.

Size : 47 cm

Habitat : At clear outer reef slopes, frequently at reef tops and edges, 0.3-25 m. Grazes on algae growth, also in shallow water on the reef top.

Distribution : Red Sea, Oman and East Africa to SW Japan, Line Islands, SE Australia and French Polynesia.
