Terminal-Phase: Striking nose hump, long tail filaments, two chin stripes.
Initial-Phase: Light to dark reddish-brown, often with darker front and bright body rear. Chin, lips and ventral fin red, also sometimes the other fins.

Size : 75 cm

Habitat : In rock and coral reefs, 1-30 m. Prefers outer reef slopes. Swims alone or in groups and graze on algae growth on the substrate.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to SW Japan, Hawaii, Panama, SE Australia and French Polynesia.
