Indian Bullethead Parrotfish

Chlorurus sordidus

Colouration and intensity variable. TP usually with visible yellow-orange region on the cheek and a paler colouration of the tail stalk.
Juvenile or IP dark with white spots on the side and pale tail with dark spot.

Size : 40 cm

Habitat : Inhabits lagoons and outerreefs, 1-30 m. Common and very widely disseminated species (with geographic forms). Adults usually above neighbouring rubble and seagrass surfaces. IP: often in smaller or larger touring groups. Sleeps in a mucous cocoon at night.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to SW Japan, Hawaii, Line and Ducie Islands.
