Yellowmouth Moray

Gymnothorax nudivomer

Inner side of mouth yellow. Gill opening yellowish with dark, diffuse border.

Size : 120 cm

Habitat : Prefers outreefs, 1-165 m. Alone or in pairs in rock holes during the day. Hunts fish at night. Upon approach, it often shows the yellow interior of its open mouth as a warning. The skin mucus is poisonous.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to SW Japan, Hawaii and French Polynesia.
