Dwarf Lionfish

Dendrochirus brachypterus

Pectoral fins are fan-shaped with up to 10 concentric dark bands on the inner side.

Size : 15 cm

Habitat : Inhabits coastal reefs and lagoons, 2-80 m. Alone or in small harems. Frequently in sediment-rich areas at individual coral heads or overgrown rock. Hunts at night for small crustaceans close to the seabed.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to SW Japan, the Mariana Islands, Australia and Samoa.
