Orange-spotted Trevally

Flavocaranx bajad

Silver grey to pale blueish, always with yellow-orange spots. Can very rapidly change basic colouration brighter or darker. A bright yellow variant is common depending on the area. They can be seen moving through the reef both individually as well as in small groups.

Size : 55 cm

Habitat : Common denizens of lagoons and out reefs, 2-70 m. Alone or in small groups. Always in the vicinity, often in fact directly ant the reef.

Distribution : Red Sea, Arabian Gulf, Seychelles to SW Japan, Palau and Solomons.
