Arc-eye Hawkfish

Paracirrhites arcatus

An arching, blue-red-orange line (“monocle”) behind the eye. Usually a broad white horizontal stripe on the body rear.

Size : 14 cm

Habitat : Lives in clear lagoons and out reefs, 1-35 m. Prefers to squat on the outer edge of small branched corals, such as the Acropora, Pocilipora and Stylophora species. Feeds on small crustaceans.

Distribution : East Africa to S Japan, Hawaii and French Polynesia.
