Yellow-edged Lyretail

Variola louti

Caudal fin is sickle shaped with yellow back edge.

Size : 80 cm

Habitat : In lagoons, channels and outreefs, 1-150 m. Also ranges through the reef during the day as a stealth hunter. Feeds on fish and crustaceans Not shy. Juvenile possibly imitate goatfish which they often accompany in search of food.

Distribution : Read Sea, East Africa to SW Japan and French Polynesia.
