Tomato Grouper

Cephalopholis sonnerati

Orange-red to reddish-brown, numerous small red dots on the head. Body occasionally with white spots or a spotted pattern.

Size : 57 cm

Habitat : Inhabits rock and coral reefs, lagoons and outreefs, 10-60 m. Can usually be met only below 20 m, frequently at free-standing coral blocks with cleaner shrimp stations.

Distribution : Gulf of Aden and East Africa to SW Japan, Line Islands and New Caledonia.
