Peacock Grouper

Cephalopholis argus

Olive-brown to greenish with numerous blue spots. Body rear often with more or fewer light cross bands.

Size : 55 cm

Habitat : Prefers clear, coral-rich lagoons and outreefs, 1-40 m. Often rest in protected places on hard ground. Adults are also in pairs or small groups. Can rapidly brighten or darken its coloration.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to S Japan and French Polynesia.
