Flagtail Grouper

Cephalopholis urodeta

Light to brown-red, dark at the back. Caudal fin with two white diagonal edge stripes (only in the West Pacific). Reddish brown spot above the pectoral fin (only in the Indian Ocean).

Size : 28 cm

Habitat : Clear lagoons and out reefs, 3-50 m. Prefers low depths to about 15 m. Feeds on fish and crustaceans.

Distribution : East Africa to SW Japan, Micronesia and French Polynesia.
