Whitebarred Goby

Amblygobius phalaena

Variable colouration from very pale to olive-brownish to blackish-brown. Red patches above the head. Dark spot on the first dorsal fin.

Size : 14 cm

Habitat : On sand and rubble ground of protected reefs, 2-20 m. Alone or in pairs, often with a burrow dug by itself below a stone or rock.

Distribution : Cocos Keeling to SW Japan, Micronesia and French Polynesia.
