Sidespot Goatfish

Parupeneus pleurostigma

Light grey with purple shimmer to yellowish or light reddish. A large black spot at the side, backed by a white area. Tail stalk usually with row of blueish dots.

Size : 33 cm

Habitat : Above sand and rubble near reefs, 3-40 m. Also above rock and seagrass fields. Usually alone.

Distribution : East Africa to SW Japan, Hawaii and French Polynesia.
